What is it? A steering rack gaiter is a rubber or thermoplastic cover. There are two, one at each end of the rack which flex with steering movement
What does it do? Its main purpose is to keep dirt and debris out of the steering rack – but it also helps keep the oil in the rack.
Tested to the extreme, all steering rack gaiters are manufactured from premium grade rubber and are highly resistant to water, salt and grit.
NOTE: Over time, even the best-quality steering rack gaiters will tear and crack. Quick replacement is essential to avoid more serious damage to the steering system.
