The OE Generation 1 and 2 steering Racks have been discontinued by the OEM. This leaves the latest OE numbers which are for the Generation 3 steering rack only.

The latest number will cross reference to ERRM1110. This could be incorrect for pre 2009 vehicles.

Shaftec have all three generation steering racks in the range.

Please see the information below to identify which steering rack is fitted to the vehicle:

Please note, the original steering rack could have changed from the original manufacture date!

In order to retrofit the generation 3 steering rack to an earlier vehicle, please observe the following information:

1. Should your vehicle be fitted with a Generation 1 steering rack, you will have to update:

• Wiring Harness
• Subframe

2. If you have a generation 2 steering rack, you will have to update:

• Wiring harness

3. For replacing generation 3 steering rack, no further parts must be replaced.

1. Carry out wheel alingment, adhering to VM Instructions

2. If indicator light is yellow, Update control unit steering gear. Flash correct characteristic / current data state.

If Indicator light is red – fault code

• Error: signal of steering angle sensor not plausible.
• Cause: Control unit of steering gear receives data of both steering angle senssors
• Remedy: Deactivate steering angle sensor in steering gear.
  Update control unit steering gear. Flash correct characteristic / current data state.
